VE Day news – Even The Queen knows how to party in London

70 years ago today, The Queen (then Princess Elizabeth) and Princess Margaret slipped unnoticed into the crowds outside Buckingham Palace to join in with the celebrations. We have unearthed some rare audio of Her Majesty recounting her memories of the day.

At 15:00GMT today there will be a national two-minute silence. The Duke of York will represent The Queen at a National Service at the Cenotaph before Her Majesty lights a VE Day beacon in Windsor this evening.
